Jodhpur has a domestic airport with direct flights from Mumbai (1.5 hrs), Delhi (1.5 hrs), and connections via these hubs from South India. From Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, or Kochi, the most convenient route is to fly to Mumbai or Delhi and take a connecting flight to Jodhpur (total travel time 4–5 hours). Alternatively, fly into Jaipur (better connected to South India) and VIP Tours arranges a road transfer to Jodhpur (340 km, ~6 hours by AC cab). The road journey through rural Rajasthan is itself a wonderful experience.
From Delhi, Jodhpur is 600 km (10–11 hrs by road or 1.5 hrs by flight). The Mandore Express and Suryanagari Express are popular overnight trains. From Jaipur, Jodhpur is 340 km (6 hrs by road). From Jaisalmer, Jodhpur is 290 km (5 hrs by road) — we include this leg in all our Jodhpur–Jaisalmer combined packages. October to March is ideal — pleasantly cool days and comfortable nights. The Marwar Festival (October) is a spectacular celebration of Jodhpuri folk music, camel races, and traditional art — if your dates align, it is unmissable. Jodhpur is nicknamed the ‘Sun City’ because it enjoys over 300 sunny days a year, making it beautiful for photography in winter when the blue city walls glow in the golden light. Avoid May–June when temperatures cross 42°C.
Absolutely — Mehrangarh Fort is widely considered one of the finest forts in all of Asia and the best museum in Rajasthan. The entry fee for Indian nationals is ₹100 and for foreign nationals ₹600 (as of 2024). The fee includes an audio guide (available in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada). Plan to spend at least 3 hours inside — the armoury, palanquin gallery, Phool Mahal (Flower Palace), and Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace) are extraordinary.
